I am pleased to inform you that the TERI-Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre (TDNBC), India and Deakin University, Australia, in association with the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, are organizing a webinar on the “Nanobiotechnology in natural food colours” on Thursday, October 20, 2022, under the “DBT-TDNBC-DEAKIN-Research Network Across continents for learning and innovation (DTD-RNA)” project.
The DTD-RNA project is dedicated to substantially enhancing research outcomes by promoting effective collaborations amongst researchers from diverse and complementary fields across continents.
Natural Food Colour is any dye, pigment or other substance obtained from a vegetable, animal, mineral, or source. These are capable of colouring food, drug, cosmetics or any part of the human body and these colours come from various sources such as seeds, fruits, vegetables, algae & insects. The industrialization of food production drove the need for consistent food colours in every production batch and stability throughout the product’s shelf life.
From the 1860s onwards, naturally extracted and synthetically produced food colours were developed and put into production. Over more than a century, the increased availability of these industrial food colours resulted in introduction of bright and intense coloured food products.
The rapid development of nanotechnology is expected to transform many areas of food science and the food industry. Food Nanotechnology offers significant potential benefits, but emerging concerns arise from its novel physicochemical properties. Nanotechnology holds great promise to provide benefits not just within food products but also around food products. Nanotechnology introduces new chances for innovation in the food industry at immense speed. The Webinar will help us understand the future possibilities of nanobiotechnology in natural food colours.
This Webinar would be a great platform to understand the role and importance of nanobiotechnology concerning natural food colours. Consumers are increasingly aware and concerned about their health and well-being and want everything natural now; we aim to bring together participants from academia, industry and regulatory bodies for brainstorming.
